Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem for the electronic stability control system (ESP) could cause the antilock brake system (ABS), acceleration slip regulation (ASR) and electronic brake force distribution (EBD) to malfunction. Also, the speedometer could display 0 km/h while the vehicle is moving. Note: This problem would cause various warnings to display on the instrument cluster. Safety Risk: An electronic stability control system that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, driving a vehicle without a speedometer could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the central display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the MBUX multimedia system software.

2022263
Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the DISTRONIC driver assistance system might not detect when the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel. If the driver has a medical emergency (and is unable to drive or loses consciousness), the active emergency stop assist and emergency call functions would not activate. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a heated leather steering wheel. Safety Risk: If the active emergency stop and emergency call features do not work in an emergency situation, there could be an increased risk of a crash, and there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the software for the hand detection system.
