Issue: Over time, the backup lamp switch could corrode and fail. If this happens, the backup lamps will not turn on when the transmission is shifted into reverse and the shift position will not display. Additionally, for vehicles equipped with a rearview camera, the camera image will not appear on the display in the instrument cluster. A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. These issues could increase the risk of a crash.
