ATTACHING BOLTS ON FUEL TANK SUPPORTS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED; ALSO, THE SUPPORTS ARE TOO THIN. HIGH LEVELS OF STRESS, WHICH COULD OCCUR UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS, COULD CAUSE CRACKS TO DEVELOP IN THE SUPPORT STRAPS. IF THE FUEL TANK SUPPORTS FRACTURE, THE FUEL TANK WILL SLIP FROM THE NORMAL POSITION, AND FUEL LEAKAGE COULD RESULT.
FUEL TANK SUPPORTS AND FASTENERS WILL BE REPLACED WITHOUT CHARGE.

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE LOCK WEDGES USED TO SECURE THE AXLE BEARING NUTS TO THE AXLE HOUSING MAY FALL OUT OF POSITION, ALLOWING THE NUT TO LOOSEN. THE NUT ON THE LEFT SIDE MAY FALL OFF, ALLOWING MOVEMENT OF THE AXLE SHAFT.
THE DEALER WILL REPLACE DEFECTIVE LOCK WEDGES WITH AN IMPROVED VERSION. WHEEL BEARINGS WILL BE INSPECTED AND ADJUSTED OR REPLACED, IF NECESSARY.

ON SOME OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE SHIFT ROD IN THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE PROPERLY SEATED IN THE RETENTION GROMMET OF THE STEERING COLUMN SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY. IF THE SHIFT ROD WERE TO DISENGAGE, THE DRIVER COULD NOT SELECT THE PROPER TRANSMISSION FUNCTION WHICH WOULD CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR UNEXPECTED MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE.
DEALER WILL INSPECT THE SHIFT ROD ATTACHMENT AND MAKE SURE IT IS PROPERLY SEATED AT NO COST TO OWNER.

These are Transport Canada campaigns for 1982 Ford E-350 vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
ON E350 SHUTTLE BUSES THE RETAINER STRAPS FOR THE MIDSHIP FUEL TANKS ARE ATTACHED TO TWO FUEL TANK CROSSMEMBER SUPPORTS. THESE SUPPORTS MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DURABILITY FRACTURES AT THE INBOARD ATTACHMENT LOCATIONS FOR THE STRAPS. IF THE SUPPORTS AT THE INBOARD ATTACHMENTS WERE TO FRACTURE,THE FUEL TANK WOULD DROP ABOUT ONE INCH BEFORE BEING RESTRAINED BY THE RIGID STRAPS AND CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR FUEL SPILLAGE.

REVISED-DESIGN LOCK WEDGES ON REAR AXLE ASSEMBLIES MAY DISENGAGE FROM THE AXLE RETAINING NUT. IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR ON THE LEFT AXLE AND THE WEDGE BECAME JAMMED BETWEEN THE RETAINING NUT AND THE HUB, THE REATINING NUT COULD LOOSEN AND BACK OFF COMPLETELY, CREATING THE POSSIBILITY OF THE LEFT REAR AXLE, WHEEL AND BRAKE DRUM PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY SEPARATING FROM THE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY. PARTIAL SEPARATION WOULD RESULT IN LOSS OF REAR BRAKING CAPABILITY AND COMPLETE SEPARATION WOULD ADVERSELY AFFECT VEHICLE CONTROL.

SHIFT ROD IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINKAGE MAY NOT BE PROPERLY SEATED IN THE RETENTION GORMMET OF THE STEERING COLUMN SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY. IF THE SHIFT ROD WERE TO DISENGAGE THE OPERATOR COULD NO LONGER SELECT THE TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONS AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD THEN REMAIN IN THE LAST FUNCTION EVEN THOUGH THE GEAR SELECTOR HAD BEEN MOVED TO A POSITION ASSOCIATED WITH ANOTHER FUNCTION. THIS CREATES THE POTENTIAL FOR AN UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURIES.

1982 Ford E-350 recall questions
NHTSA lists 3 recalls for the 1982 Ford E-350 model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window. Transport Canada lists 3 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or Ford's own, or call a Ford dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Ford dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Ford's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Ford dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Ford so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
