These are Transport Canada campaigns for 2016 BMW S 1000 Rr vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Issue: This recall is for certain oil filters sold at BMW Motorrad dealerships as a replacement part for 2008 to 2024 models. This recall affects oil filter part number: 11427721779-04. On certain motorcycles, the oil filter may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, under certain conditions, the filter could loosen and create an oil leak. Safety Risk: An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. An oil leak could create a hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, oil that leaks onto hot components could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the oil filter.

Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

2016 BMW S 1000 Rr recall questions
NHTSA lists 2 recalls for the 2016 BMW S 1000 Rr model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window. Transport Canada lists 2 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or BMW's own, or call a BMW dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized BMW dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once BMW's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized BMW dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with BMW so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
