On certain motorcycles, corrosion could form inside the front brake master cylinder, which could cause a spongy brake feel. This could potentially lead to extended stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a redesigned front brake master cylinder.

On certain motorcycles, crash forces or hazardous maneuvers such as extreme or extended wheelies or other stunts causing extreme stress to the frame can result in frame cracking or breakage behind and below the steering neck, while ordinary vehicle operation does not create a risk of such frame cracking or breakage. Suzuki believes that this issue does not constitute a "defect" within the meaning of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act because such extreme maneuvers are far outside the ordinary and reasonable operation of the vehicles involved. However, as a precautionary measure for the sake of owners and operators, Suzuki has voluntarily decided to conduct this safety improvement campaign. Correction: Frame will be inspected for cracks behind and below the steering neck. If no cracks are found, a lightweight, aluminum reinforcement brace will be attached to the frame. Should cracks be found during the inspection, the frame will be replaced with a new frame that has the reinforcement brace installed.

These are NHTSA campaigns for 2005 Suzuki Gsx R1000 vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and Suzuki's Canadian VIN lookup.
Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2013 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, and model year 2005-2013 GSX-R1000 motorcycles. In combination with older brake fluid, corrosion of the brake piston inside of the front brake master cylinder generates gas that may result in a reduction of fluid pressure transmission to the front brake.
As a result, front braking power may be reduced increasing the risk of a crash.
Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2013. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-572-1490. Suzuki's campaign numbers for this recall are: 2A (31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36).

AMERICAN SUZUKI (SUZUKI) IS CONDUCTING A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN INVOLVING 26,082 MY 2005-2006 GSX-R1000 MOTORCYCLES. CRACKING OR BREAKAGE OF THE MOTORCYCLE FRAME CAN OCCUR IN CERTAIN EXTREME SITUATIONS WHERE UNUSUALLY HIGH STRESS IS PLACED ON THE FRAME. REPEATED HARD LANDINGS FROM HAZARDOUS MANEUVERS SUCH AS EXTREME OR EXTENDED WHEELIES OR OTHER STUNTS MAY GENERATE SUFFICIENT STRESS TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM.
IF THE FRAME BECOMES BROKEN DURING EXTREME USE, A CRASH COULD OCCUR.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FRAME FOR CRACKS. IF NO CRACKS ARE FOUND, A FRAME REINFORCEMENT BRACE WILL BE ATTACHED TO THE FRAME USING BOLTS AND EPOXY ADHESIVE. SHOULD CRACKS BE FOUND DURING THE INSPECTION, THE FRAME WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW FRAME THAT HAS THE REINFORCEMENT BRACE INSTALLED. THE CAMPAIGN BEGAN ON JANUARY 21, 2009. 2005 Suzuki Gsx R1000 recall questions
Transport Canada lists 2 recalls for the 2005 Suzuki Gsx R1000 model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window, and some only vehicles found on inspection. NHTSA lists 2 United States campaigns for the US-market model, shown separately; a US campaign may have no Canadian equivalent.
Enter your VIN in Suzuki's Canadian recall lookup, or call a Suzuki dealer with your VIN. In Canada the manufacturer is responsible for showing recall and repair status for each VIN, so its lookup is the authoritative answer. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. NHTSA campaigns cover vehicles sold in the United States, and NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data. When a defect also affects Canadian vehicles, the manufacturer files a separate notice with Transport Canada, often under a different number and sometimes covering a different set of vehicles. For a Canadian vehicle, go by the Transport Canada listing and Suzuki's Canadian lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Suzuki dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Suzuki's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Suzuki dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Suzuki Canada so notices reach you, and check the manufacturer's lookup from time to time.
