Summary

On certain vehicles, the automatic transaxle shift lever appears to be in PARK, but can easily be moved from the PARK position without the use of the key, transaxle lever detent button, or depressing the brake. If the shift lever were to come out of PARK while the vehicle is parked on a non-level surface, a roll away could occur with the possibility of a crash without prior warning. Correction: Shifter assembly will be replaced.

THE (Takata) ABS PLASTIC FRONT SEAT BELT RELEASE BUTTONS ON THESE VEHICLES MAY BREAK ALLOWING PLASTIC PIECES TO FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN, A NO LATCH, FALSE LATCH OR FAILURE TO UNLATCH CONDITION COULD OCCUR CREATING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR SUDDEN STOP. CORRECTION: FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AS NECESSARY.

VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH INCORRECTLY MACHINED REAR BRAKE DRUMS. AS THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE LOSS OF WHEEL CLAMP LOAD. THIS COULD RESULT IN FATIGUE FRACTURE OF THE WHEEL STUDS CAUSING POSSIBLE WHEEL SEPARATION AND A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: BOTH REAR WHEEL DRUMS WILL BE REPLACED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

CRACKS ON THE HOOD INNER PANEL MAY LEAD TO A CONDITION IN WHICH THE HOOD STRIKER ASSEMBLY DOES NOT PROPERLY ENGAGE THE HOOD LATCH WHEN CLOSED. THIS COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN HOOD "FLY-UP" WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. CORRECTION: DEALERS WILL INSTALL TWO (2) BOLTS AND NUTS TO BETTER SECURE THE STRIKER ASSEMBLY TO THE HOOD INNER PANEL. DEALERS WILL ALSO ENSURE THAT THE THREE (3) EXISTING HOOD LATCH ASSEMBLY RETAINING BOLTS ARE PROPERLY TORQUED.
