Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.

If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Note: For the 2010 and 2013 models listed, this recall only affects vehicles that were imported into Canada, and were originally sold or ever registered in certain areas of the United States that experience high or moderate levels of heat and humidity. On certain vehicles equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks, the fuel level sensor in the front tank could become stuck in the low level position, causing the rear tank to overfill the front tank. If this occurs, the front tank could expand and come in contact with the moving drive shaft which, over time, could create a hole in the front tank and cause a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear tank fuel pump module or flash the vehicle software. Dealers will also inspect the front tank for damage and replace it as necessary.
Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 - Transmission Control Functions, and CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. A fractured park lock cable, or a defective steering lock module, may have been installed during vehicle assembly. This could allow the driver to shift out of PARK with the key in the OFF position or removed from the ignition. As well, the transmission may be shifted out of PARK without first depressing the brake pedal. The key may also be rotated to the OFF position and removed while the shifter is not in PARK. These issues could result in unintended vehicle movement, which could cause a crash resulting in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering column assembly.
