On certain vehicles equipped with a 7-speed Auto-Shift Manual (ASM) transmission, due to a lack of support, a connector in the hydraulic system could fail and cause a transmission fluid leak. If this occurs, the driver would be unable to change gears which could, under certain circumstances, increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a support bracket to hold the hydraulic line in position to prevent movement of the assembly.

On certain vehicles, a transmission software update may not have been applied correctly which could cause the transmission to go into neutral without warning. This could result in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will re-install the transmission software update correctly and if necessary, the vehicle clutch system will be repaired or replaced.

Certain vehicles fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 206 – Door Lock and Door Retention Components. These vehicles have a double locking feature that will not let the doors be opened by an occupant inside the vehicle unless the unlock button is pressed on the vehicle key. As a result, occupants may be at a greater risk of being locked in the vehicle in an emergency situation. Correction: Dealers will update the vehicle’s software to disable the double locking feature.

On certain vehicles, a defect in the seat heater wiring could cause the front seat heaters to remain on even when the control switch is in the "off" position. This could cause certain areas of the seats to overheat, which could result in injury to seat occupants and increase the risk of a fire causing damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install an additional module which will isolate power supply in the event of a malfunction.

On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal arm may fail. This would cause the throttle control to return to the idle position, causing a reduction in engine power and propulsive force. Loss of vehicle propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the accelerator pedal assembly and adjust the foot well scuff plate. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2013185 and 2013367. Vehicles that were repaired under the previous campaigns will also need to be repaired under this campaign.

2012 Aston Martin Vantage V8 recall questions
Transport Canada lists 7 recalls for the 2012 Aston Martin Vantage V8 model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window, and some only vehicles found on inspection.
Enter your VIN in Aston Martin's Canadian recall lookup, or call a Aston Martin dealer with your VIN. In Canada the manufacturer is responsible for showing recall and repair status for each VIN, so its lookup is the authoritative answer. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. NHTSA campaigns cover vehicles sold in the United States, and NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data. When a defect also affects Canadian vehicles, the manufacturer files a separate notice with Transport Canada, often under a different number and sometimes covering a different set of vehicles. For a Canadian vehicle, go by the Transport Canada listing and Aston Martin's Canadian lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Aston Martin dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Aston Martin's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Aston Martin dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Aston Martin Canada so notices reach you, and check the manufacturer's lookup from time to time.
