Safety Recalls & Notices
Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Polestar dealer during recall RP1056 (Transport Canada recall no. 2025-230) may not be effective. As a result, a second repair may be required. On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to display the wrong camera view or to not display at all when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software.
Issue: On certain vehicles, water could leak into the connector between the engine bay wiring harness and the front bumper wiring harness. If this happens, there could be a loss of power steering and/or certain driver assistance systems may not work properly, including the pedestrian warning system and parking assistance system. Note: This problem could cause the vehicle not to start, the parking brake not to release and/or different warnings to display. Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist would result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low vehicle speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, driver assistance systems that don't work properly could increase the risk of a crash and/or injury. Corrective Actions: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front bumper wiring harness and connector on the engine bay wiring harness.
Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause a loss of brakes. Safety Risk: A loss of brakes can increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Polestar recommends not to use the "One Pedal Drive" drive mode until the recall repairs are completed. Polestar will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update for the brake control module software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Polestar dealership.
Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to display the wrong camera view. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the vehicle software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Volvo dealership.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to display the wrong camera view or not to display at all when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Corrective Actions: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Polestar has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.
Issue: On small number of vehicles, the bolts that secure the driver's seat may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen, and the seat could move or detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat that moves or detaches could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Action: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the driver's seat attachment bolts.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the left-front lower ball joint may not have been installed correctly in the steering knuckle. As a result, the ball joint could separate from the knuckle and cause a loss of vehicle control. Safety Risk: A ball joint that separates could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the fastening bolt for the left-front lower ball joint, and replace it if necessary.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the high-voltage battery could overheat when it is fully charged. As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts. Note: This recall replaces recall R10202 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2022-716). Vehicles that received a software update under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A battery that overheats can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Polestar will notify owners by mail and advise you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery.
