Issue: On certain vehicles, the compliance label may be missing information in French. The words listed on the label for "Tires", "Rims", "Front" and "Rear" appear in English only, when they should be listed as "Tires/Pneus", "Rims/Jantes", "Front/Avant" and "Rear/Arriere". Canadian regulations require this information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: These small errors do not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Kia has corrected the compliance label for all new vehicles.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the roof trim may not be properly attached. As a result, the roof trim could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Safety Risk: Roof trim that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, secure or replace the roof trim.
Issue: In certain situations, the power sliding door may not stop and reverse if it is blocked. Safety Risk: A power sliding door that doesn't stop when it is blocked could pinch a person and create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to update the power sliding door control module software. The update will add two (2) warning chimes when the power sliding door begins to open or close, and change the door speed to move more slowly before the door latches.
Issue: Certain vehicles may be equipped with a 4-pin accessory trailer wiring harness kit that could fail. Over time, this could result in a short circuit that can cause the control module to overheat. Note: This recall only affects Kia Genuine 4-pin tow hitch wiring harness kits with the part number R0F67AC200. These kits may have been ordered at the time of a vehicle purchase or purchased separately from a dealer as an aftermarket accessory. Safety Risk: A short circuit can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the vehicle for a trailer wiring harness kit. If necessary, the dealer will install a 15A fuse and a wire extension kit. Kia advises that if your vehicle has a tow hitch harness installed, you should park it outdoors, and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger-side power sliding door may not latch properly. If this happens, the door could open while driving. Note: If the sliding door does not latch properly, you may see warnings on the instrument cluster and hear an alert chime. If you ignore these warnings and drive above 10 km/h, a continuous door-ajar ringing will sound and the door-ajar warning will show a flashing red symbol. Safety Risk: A door that opens while driving could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to repair the door latch on the passenger-side power sliding door.
