Issue: On certain vans, the upper hood latch may not be properly installed. Under some driving conditions, this could allow the hood to open suddenly while driving. Safety Risk: If the hood opens while driving, it could suddenly block a driver's view. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their van to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, tighten the mounting screws for the upper hood latch. Any missing screws will be replaced.

Issue: Certain vans were built with the wrong type of glass in one or both of the rear-side windows. Tempered glass was used in place of laminated glass. As a result, the vehicles may not meet the ejection mitigation requirements of the Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Vans built with incorrect side window glass could create a risk of ejection and injury in a rollover or side-impact crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their van to a dealer to replace the tempered window glass with laminated glass.

These are NHTSA campaigns for 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4500 vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles.
