On certain vehicles the accelerator linkage return springs which were not properly stress relieved may break. This could potentially result in the vehicle going to full throttle, and could prevent the throttle from returning to idle when the driver's foot is removed from the accelerator pedal. Should this occur, the vehicle would not decelerate as expected and in the event that minimum stopping distances are required, a vehicle crash could occur without prior warning. Correction: Accelerator linkage return spring(s) will be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the push-pull headlight switch may have been manufactured with electrical contacts which allow an intermittent headlight circuit. An intermittent circuit could cause the headlights to suddenly go out. Under severe weather or nighttime driving conditions, driver visibility could be reduced, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

United States records (NHTSA) · 1

These are NHTSA campaigns for 1986 GMC Brigadier vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and GMC's Canadian VIN lookup.
