On certain C800, L800 and W9000 vehicles equipped with 12,000 pound front axles and optional case aluminum front wheel hubs except those vehicles involved in recall v76061. The hubs may experience high mileage fatigue cracks in the wheel mounting flange or inner bearing area of the hub. If the cracks progress circumferentially, the wheel mounting flange could separate from the hub, allowing the wheel and tire to separate from the vehicle.

On certain B700, C600, CL9000, F700, LN600 and W9000 vehicles equipped with eaton anti-lock air brake controllers and produced at the kentucky turck plant. A nylon piston within the pneumatic valve system can increase in size when exposed to certain quantities of typical air brake contaminants that may accumulate due to lack of air brake maintenance. The piston could momentarily stick and/or jam in the valve housing causing a temporary or permanent loss of braking to the affected axle. v79144

CERTAIN AIR BRAKE ANTI-LOCK MODULATORS COULD MALFUNCTION DURING OPERATION OF THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM. A NYLON PISTON WITHIN THE MODULATOR AIR VALVE SYSTEM CAN SWELL FROM EXPOSURE TO SYSTEM CONTAMINANTS. CONTINUED EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE THE PISTON TO SWELL TO THE EXTENT THAT INTERFERENCE WITH THE CYLINDER WALL WILL RESULT, CAUSING MOMENTARY STICKING OR A PERMANENT JAM. THIS CAN RESULT IN TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT LOSS OF BRAKING FOR THE AFFECTED AXLE.
THE PISTONS IN THE VALVE PORTION OF THE MODULATORS WILL BE REPLACED WITH PISTONS THAT DO NOT SWELL WHEN EXPOSED TO AIR BRAKE SYSTEM CONTAMINANTS.

VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL MALLEABLE IRON FRONT WHEEL HUBS INSTALLED ON 12,L000 LB. CAPACITY FE970 CENTERPOINT STEERING AXLES. On certain W9000 vehicles manufactured between 10-2-75 and 22-4-75. Pipe plugs incorrectly released for installation in the exhaust port of the trailer air supply valve. When the trailer parking brake is released, air trapped in the trailer air supply valve will prevent a piston in the lower portion of the valve from opening, causing a gradual loss of air pressure in the trailer service brake system with each service brake application, and with no advanced warning to the driver.
