On certain vehicles, the tie rod and drag link ball stud ends contain bearing that are below the specified case depth and/or hardness. This can lead to premature wear out and a possible separation of the ball stud from the socket and loss of steering control. Correction: All affected tie rods and drag links will be replaced. Correction: Dealers will replace the affected tie rod ends and/or drag link assemblies.

On certain vehicles, the accelerator cable core wire may wear the cable conduit end fitting due to a fifteen degree angle it makes with the conduit at the throttle body end. This could also lead to wear or separation of strands of the core wire, which could prevent the throttle from returning to the idle position. A "stuck" throttle could adversely affect vehicle control. Correction: Dealers will replace the accelerator cable and throttle body with the revised parts that are currently being used on the 5.4L automatic transmission vehicles. On certain vehicles, the speed control cable may interfere with the speed control servo pulley and not allow the throttle to return to idle when disengaging the speed control. If the speed control is used and this condition is present, a stuck throttle could result, which could potentially cause an accident. By not using speed control, this condition will not occur. Correction: Vehicles will be inspected and, if required, speed control cable will be replaced.

NOTE: MOTORHOME CHASSIS. THE ACCELERATOR CABLE MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FREEZING. ON THESE VEHICLES, THE CABLE END POINTS UPWARD AT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL END, ALLOWING WATER TO COLLECT IN THE END FITTING AND FREEZE AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 0 DEGREES CENTIGRADE. IN SOME CASES THE OPERATOR CAN INCREASE THE THROTTLE OPENING BUT THE ICE COULD PREVENT THE THROTTLE FROM RETURNING TO IDLE. CORRECTION: A REVISED ACCELERATOR CABLE WITH AN END FITTING THAT WILL REDUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR WATER COLLECTION OR ENTRY WILL BE INSTALLED.

1999 Ford Super Duty recall questions
Transport Canada lists 8 recalls for the 1999 Ford Super Duty model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window, and some only vehicles found on inspection.
Enter your VIN in Ford's Canadian recall lookup, or call a Ford dealer with your VIN. In Canada the manufacturer is responsible for showing recall and repair status for each VIN, so its lookup is the authoritative answer. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. NHTSA campaigns cover vehicles sold in the United States, and NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data. When a defect also affects Canadian vehicles, the manufacturer files a separate notice with Transport Canada, often under a different number and sometimes covering a different set of vehicles. For a Canadian vehicle, go by the Transport Canada listing and Ford's Canadian lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorised Ford dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Ford's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorised Ford dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Ford Canada so notices reach you, and check the manufacturer's lookup from time to time.
